I read the book Live At The Brixton Academy by Simon Parkes and one story really stood out.
17th April 1994, Nirvana were due to play London's Brixton Academy.
On Tuesday 5th April 1994 Kurt Cobain killed himself.
The insurance policy for the venue wouldn't compensate for suicide and refunding all the tickets could have bankrupted The Academy. Venue owner Simon Parkes thought quick and claimed that people were keeping hold of the tickets as a piece of history. The lie became the truth when most didn't ask for a refund. The Academy sold on the few tickets that were refunded for a profit
So I did some more screenprinting, producing a prints of this gig that never happened.
Update: Simon Parkes himself emailed me about the print saying “Love it.”
I’ll take it
All these prints are available to buy from my corner of etsy.
