The Relish Carpet

SPOILER ALERT:

This blog is mainly about food – that is the level of boredom my days in edinburgh have led me to

:WASN’T REALLY A SPOILER

After the delights of my eggs benedict on sunday I couldn’t have imagined how low my food intake would take me.

The Stand do food at their gigs, and as an act I get free food. so I didn’t eat anything from morning eggs to then.

But, on a sunday they don’t do food. I was backstage and feeling hungry. I was on at the gig last so I could have nipped out and gotten something, but instead, as I so often do, I stayed put and made life hard for myself.

I actually felt quite faint by the time I was on (and I’ve fainted in that room before) and left the gig after in search of food.

At 11pm on a sunday in edinburgh there’s not a wealth of choice and I found myself queueing up for a burger and chips down the road. In the queue were some people from the gig and a nice american lady asked me how my cat was (I’d been talking about him alot on stage) and I apologised for ruining the magic of showbiz, queueing in the same queue as her for a burger, David Copperfield wouldn’t do that.

I took it back to the hotel and watched what I thought was going to be the oscars on sky one on my shitty hotel telly.

Turns out the oscars are on some movie channel, so instead I found myself watching ferne cotton talking to people going into the oscars on the red carpet, whilst i ate a limp burger on two single beds pushed together.

there’s no business like show business….
