The Coupled Awkwardity

It was valentines night last night. And blog-reading losers I was out with my girlfriend. Fiancée no less.

although when I say out I mean I dragged her to a gig, but it was a special valentines sitting on a rug special (titled snogging on a rug – boom!)

I did the gig with Mark Allen, we’d done a similar halloween special last year (shitting yourself on a rug – double boom!) which was ace… in fact here are the highlights of that halloween gig…

That night was ace, so we had no reason to think that it shouldn’t be any different this time – we had more video clips, a couple of great guests and even a bloody song. The place had sold out so we were ready for a good night.

Except, being a valentines gig nearly all the audience were in couples. Lots of people sat in twos hiding behind each other and therefore ruddy hard to build up an atmosphere.

But we managed it – just about, it was an up and down night as I got increasingly more and more self-conscious of the fact that these people had chosen us to be their valentines night entertainment, and I think some of them were expecting, well, something different.

There’ll be a video highlights thing to come soon enough.

Then this afternoon was a two-year ambition fulfilled – we finally did a laughterinoddplaces in a launderette. We learnt that industrial washing machines are remarkably quiet (but £3 for a wash?!), everyone that works in a launderette is called Pat and that Dan Antopolski’s set lasts as long as as a delicate wash
