The Shitnav

I went to Basingstoke today.

That was fun

If you like that sort of thing.

I was told I’d be picked up from the station for the gig. I therefore forgot to check any maps, or print anything out, or anything else handy, like a phone number or something.

But, I had an email on my phone that had the postcode of the gig on, so I thought I’d use google maps on my phone to find the route.

I fired it up, putting in the destination address, and telling it I was at Basingstoke station. Very excitingly it told me it was routing and after a second or two it told me the gig was 0.6 miles away and it would take about 16 minutes.

Wonderful

I set off, following the directions diligently. I had to turn left from the station and go down a dark main road. Not through the big shopping arcade ahead of me that my instincts were telling me to do.

But I followed.

When I got to the instruction,  take third exit from the roundabout, I began to worry. It was a proper roundabout, I had to cross the busy road. It started to dawn on me that these instructions were meant for cars.

Eventually, after about 35 mins I got to my destination. It was just through the shopping arcade.

I’d walked the one way system
