After an expensive train nightmare I wanted this gig to be good, I really couldn’t cope with a death after such a horrible (and foolish) day of train missing.
The room looked nice, if not a little quiet
Thankfully a bunch of Manc comics turned up to flesh out the numbers.
The start of the show went better than ever, this was going to be fun, as ever the story dipped in the middle, a problem which I think will be less of an issue in an Edinburgh cave room, but in a gig like tonight I get panicky, the story certainly goes well, but I feel the audience (and on a hot like tonight, myself a bit too) drifting away with their collective concentration. But I have enough stand up and funny bits to snap them back
Unfortunately, the one bit I need to work out most is the ending, but I was asked tonight to do a 45min set not the full hour, so spent the whole thing cutting bits and speeding up, meaning that by the time I got to the end I realised I’d missed out some bits that would make the ending make sense.
So a bit of a muddle
But well worth the ridiculous train fare I spent to get there
