I have today booked a pretty big gig in cardiff for next week at the Glee club, I’m the lowly open spot… but it’s supposed to be a lovely place and I’m excited.
I am also poor as ever and so needed to get the cheapest train ticket there and back.
This is a double edged sword as my temp job is hourly paid and, as the cheaper tickets are usually in the day, I’ll be losing a tenner an hour or so for every hour I have to leave early.
But as I’m so skint I have to go for the cheapest ticket, whereas including money it’ll cost me in lost work I can get a normal price.
Grr
Anyway, on the day in question there is a train leaving Paddington at 2.30 and getting to Cardiff at about 4.30 – leaving me with about four hours to kill before the gig. Obviously this is idiotic. Most other people would find alternnate ways, borrow the money for higher ticket or something. But I am indeed an idiot and it honestly doens’t occur to me that there is another option… so I book the ticket
Except, being sat in my armchair with my nice new wireless laptop on my lap and with a cup of tea next to me I was perhaps too relaxed to be paying attention properly and I booked the wrong ticket…
I booked the one to leave london at 1.30.
I now have five hours to kill on Friday 13th (I know) January.
I may go and see King Kong or something.
That’ll be about a tenner – I could have gotten the four o clock train for £35
I hate me sometimes.
