I have eventually come to the conclusion that I have actually lost my nail clippers.
Today I was tidying my room, not a normal shove things in piles tidy, but a proper actual tidy tidy, involving sorting things and chucking things and putting other things back in their proper places.
When I’d nearly finished I looked at my tidier than ever room and felt an overwhelming sense of boredom, and I still hadn’t found my nail clippers.
I’ve been in this flat for nearly a year now, and this room was boring me time for a run-around.
Time in fact to move my room round. I wanted the sofa by the window and the bed near the door and everything and I wanted it all now.
But I thought it best to plan ahead, so I did a diagram on the back of an envelope. It wasn’t to scale, but this was good as it made it look as though I’d have acres of space.
I started to move, first the sofa came out and got halfway turned round before getting stuck against the wall. Then I realised the sheer amount of crap that was under the sofa. I got out the hoover and a bin bag and tidied more. I then shoved the telly across the room. I’ll be honest with you all, it was under the telly that was my last hope for nail clipper joy, they were not there.
By now I’d realised the mantra of my life had come to force again “I’ve not thought it through”. I was trying to shift the desk across the room, but now the sofa was in its new place and blocking the way. It was a bit like a slide puzzle thing, you might have one corner sorted, but to get the other bit done you have to break up the first bit. It was frustrating, and the sheer amount of crap that was just wedged n places was near unbelievable.
I’d been at it for two hours, most of the furniture was in place, but there was shit (not literally) everywhere.
I had fashioned a bookcase out of cardboard and videos that was resting on top of my chest of drawers. Now that was unfeasible due to new location and so I have hundreds of books over the floor, and videos, and cardboard.
And the armchair is slightly redundant, but there is nowhere else in the flat for it to fit. So unsure what to do with it.
And no nail clippers.
