The Potato Triffid Update

You may remember that back on 31st May, myself and Dawn planted a potato.

It has not been forgotten about.

Well, in fact, it had.

We got back from Edinburgh to find that the damn thing was still alive. I’ve grown very affectionate of this potato plant. Mainly by the sheer amazement that a few days after planting some little green shoots appeared. As a child I never really grew stuff, so despite the fact I learnt all the Photosynthesis stuff from when I was at school, I still, like planes flying, don’t really believe it happens.

But it did.

So in the last couple of months I have diligently watered (and perhaps over watered) my little friend, always slightly scared of it’s potential Triffid-like qualities. And certainly looking over my shoulder whenever I eat any kind of potato product.

But in a way I am a Potato God. If I hadn’t been so forgetful then I would have eaten this potato before it went soft, and then it wouldn’t have been planted.

If it wasn’t for me then this plant wouldn’t have existed. Therefore it owes it’s very existence to me. So I hope it won’t kill me.

As it’s gotten quite big, we’ve put it on the balcony now
