Opening Night

Very very tired. spent the day being tired and stressing. Tech rehersals, sorting out flat, dress rehersal, realising that I had to get C Venues teche to run the first show so shouldn’t have spent the tech rehersal trying to chat her up and should have possibly run through the show with her.

By the time I was about to go on I realised that I hadn’t thought much about the show itself since its last incarnation in Cardiff.

Here I am, standing ‘backstage’* at what used to be a cinema but is now a venue, I’m wearing silly PVC trousers and am about to do my first ever Edinburgh one man show.

I get a bit nervous.

The walk on music starts, so I walk on. There is an audience of 8. 5 are my flatmate and her friends, two are a Mother and son and one is a man on his own.

The show goes well, I am weary at first of the mother and son, the son is fifteen, in the show I mention some adult themes. But he was fine, the show isn’t vulgar (except for the fisting reference). And as far as I know they enjoyed it.

I say ‘as far as I know’ because I decided at the last minute to look more like my posters and to not wear glasses onstafe, this would be fine if I had contacts, but I don’t, so spent the hour peering into as blur of faces, hard to banter back when all I can see is pink ovals.

Happy with show, happy with Edinburgh.

Kinda happy all round
