Explosion – Part IV

The Plucky londoners

“I now pay tribute to the stoicism and resilience of the people of london” says Mr Tony Blair himself. There’s going to be a lot of talk about how plucky Londoner’s are in times of crisis.

Well otngiht I have found out that we are not plucky at all…we’re pissed.

Went to a pub in Angel tonight, it was packed and everyone was utterly drunken. The British spirit is actually whisky and not national pride.

Thinking on this I realised that when we hear stories of Londoner’s gathering together on the underground (not wise today) and singing Roll Out The Barrell and Knees Up Mother Brown (was this an early version of fisting? Poor old Mother Brown, what did she do to deserve all those knees in her?) we never hear about the fact that to avoid the sheer horroer of nasty bombs falling all over the place they were all as pissed as they could possibly be.

This is why there is no pandemonium on the streets of London tongiht, we’re all hiding panic in the pub.

I even witnessed someone drunkenly singing “Maybe it’s Because I’m A Londoner” without any irony in the street at 2am.

Life goes on.
