Today I had a job interview for a 13 week data entry temp job.
Remember that… a 13 week…data entry…temp job. Not an interview to try and become a rocket scientist, nor to handle sensitve cases of people on the verge of suicide, but a 13 week temp job.
I was told there would be a test, was a little surprised that it consisted of demonstrating you could write a letter, didn’t appear to be much call for that in the job description. The test lasted for half an hour, there were excel tests, spelling tests, proofing, numeracy etc.
13 week?
Data Entry?
Temp job?
I was then slightly taken aback when being led into the interview room to be confronted with A PANEL OF THREE PEOPLE to interview me.
They all took it in turns to ask questions, or rather, to read questions badly from the sheets of paper in front of them. Adn the questions truly were from the “Little Book Of Interviews”
“Can you tell us what are the important aspects of team work?”
“Can you tell us any time when you’ve had to work under pressure”
This kind of thing really insults my intelligence and makes me hate temping. It’s interviewing by numbers, being asked by three morons questions that I’ve heard since I was first applying for a job in Tescos when I was 16.
I went into auto pilot, noting with glee whenever I said a “keyword” they’d simaltaneously tick something on their sheets of paper.
Naturally I got the job.
Woo.
