The Crossword (Part II)

I had forgotten about it. I hoped and presumed that my colleagues had forgotten about it too.

But the IBM advert crossword is still in the office kitchen wall. And it’s still providing a topic of conversation.

I went in this morning to steal some coffee to wake me up (the coffee, not the act of theft, though being a criminal can be so invigorating).

I glanced behind me to see that the crossword was still there – and nearly complete. In fact there was only one clue left to find.

I figured it would be fitting if I (not a member of the team) came in and ruined it by getting the last answer and scooping the glory, as in real team work – you spend years working on some kind of project all working together towards the same goal before some cunt goes along and ruins it.

Problem is, this clue was too hard (hence why it was still empty I guess)

It’s thus

185 Down: Focus attention on a particular problem within a group or client (6)

I can’t figure it out…

Well, that was this morning. Again, it not being important, and the clue definitely not bugging me as I try to solve it, someone came in to our bit of the office to announce (yes, announce) that the crossword was completed. This is a Friday afternoon, in the last proper job I had people would be getting the beers out now, but here, they announce the completion of crosswords.

Oh god.

Though I couldn’t help but sneak a look to see what the answer was….

“Target”
It would be wouldn’t it?
