The Still Signing On

So today I had to go back to carry on the signing on process. They make it increasingly annoying and complicated to do to try and deter you from claiming what’s rightfully yours.

But I am stubborn and will gladly die to get my benefits.

The other day, when I arrived at the office with my forms they asked me if I’d filled in the one they hadn’t sent me. I looked blankly (at the Job Centre this can positively help your claim) and said no, how could I if they hadn’t sent me it. “Well you should have got it” but I didn’t.

And so on. I filled it in there and then on the spot.

“Have you brought your wageslips?” I haven’t got a job, I thought they might be joking, but no. They meant the last months wageslips for when I was working. I said I didn’t know I had to. They told me that it was clearly stated on the form. The woman even circled the bit on the form that told me to in red pen. I wanted to circle her face, but calmly pointed out that her ink had just gone on the form THAT THEY DIDN’T FUCKING SEND ME (I didn’t swear, this won’t help).

So I’ve had to go back in today with the wageslips (obviously I’ve lost a couple) and for the simple task of handing them over, waiting for them to be photocopied and handed back took four hours.

I’m getting my £45 a week if it kills me, I may even turn down work just to get the money out of these little bastards.
